Therapy & Counselling in Brixton, Kennington and online.
Helping you navigate what you need to thrive. Now.
What’s challenging you right now?
Life’s ups and downs can leave us with more questions than answers. At times, it can be overwhelming to manage it all on your own.
You might have opened up to friends, family, or a partner, only to find yourself holding back - worried about being a burden.
What’s more, despite best intentions, their advice may be shaped by their own biases or interests, leaving you feeling unheard or misunderstood.
If that resonates, you’re not alone and don’t have to face this alone. You deserve balanced and impartial assistance. Because clear, compassionate, and professional guidance can make all the difference.
That’s where I can help you.
Together, we’ll develop the practical and emotional skills you need to confront your circumstances with clarity and confidence.
Would you like to know how I can help?
There is hope - even when your brain tells you there isn’t.
When we are emotional, i.e., stressed, anxious or angry, we can’t think straight, make intelligent decisions or do ourselves justice. Here, borrowing your therapist’s brain can help you:
Regain control of your emotional experience for restored daily focus and bandwidth
Increase clarity and insight to view your circumstances with calm
Reintroduce hope to restore your confidence and energy for the challenges you face.
Stay committed so you can tackle daily events with assurance and control.
A first therapy session can be the domino that sets off a chain of positive change.
My approach focuses on addressing the root of your concerns in the here and now to ensure you make meaningful progress from day one.
Our sessions will give us the space to unravel complex challenges in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we will identify which of your emotional needs are not being met in balance and how to change this.

Meet Philippa
Hello, and welcome—I’m so glad you’re here.
A bit about me: I’m a registered psychotherapist passionate about helping people overcome life’s emotional challenges. I have a background in massage and bodywork having studied anatomy and physiology. I ran an alternative health clinic in London for ten years and feel instinctively that a holistic approach to health is the most effective.
When I’m not working, I love to swim outdoors. This is how I reconnect, unwind, and find clarity.
„I wholeheartedly recommend Philippa’s expertise to anyone seeking mental and emotional support. Her expertise and human approach are second to none. “

For many people, seeking assistance for mental distress can feel like a big step, making choosing the right counsellor extremely important. Yet, with so many types of treatment available (around 400 different approaches!), assessing what effective support involves requires a leap of faith.
With this in mind, the following outlines, at least from one perspective, what effective counselling might entail. In addition, it reflects the minimum that you’ll be able to expect from me in our work together:
knows how to build rapport quickly with distressed people
understands depression and how to lift it
helps immediately with anxiety problems including trauma or fear related symptoms
is prepared to give advice if needed or asked for
will not use jargon or tell you that counselling or psychotherapy has to be ‘painful’
will not dwell unduly on the past
will be supportive when difficult feelings emerge, but will not encourage people to get emotional beyond the normal need to ‘let go’ of any bottled up feelings
may assist you to develop your social skills so that your needs can be better fulfilled
will help you to draw and build on your own resources (which may prove greater than you thought)
will be considerate of the effects of counselling on the people close to you
may teach you to relax deeply
may help you think about your problems in new and more empowering ways
uses a wide range of techniques as appropriate
may ask you to do things between sessions
will take as few sessions as possible
will increase your self-confidence and independence and make sure you feel better after every consultation

The approach I work with is typically brief. Most clients I see around four to six times in total and, in some cases, less. For many people, time is short, and so unless agreed otherwise, our work together will focus on ensuring you can make the fastest possible progress.
